We were so sad to hear of the loss of Kofi Annan. He was an inspiration to us all. We join people across the world in paying tribute to the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, who served from 1997 to 2006.
Annan was the only black African to become UN Secretary-General. From Ghana, his country of birth has declared a week’s national morning. Later on he served as a special envoy to Syria and was awarded the 2001 Noble Peace Prize.
Read United Nations Association UK (UNA-UK)‘s personal reflections on his passing here. He will be missed by his family and the greater global community. We thank him for his service.
