The 22nd of January, 2024, marks the third anniversary of the Nuclear Ban Treaty, also known as the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), entering into international law.
While we celebrate the ban coming into action, and see growing support from other nations, the United Kingdom – one of the owners of nuclear weapons – is not yet a signatory. At WILPF UK we continue to advocate for the UK to sign TPNW and work towards the total elimination of nuclear weapons in order to prioritise human security and climate justice.
