Orpington Garden Party: 30th July
Sheila Triggs welcomed us to her home for the Orpington Garden party. We had two excellent speakers with fresh information from Africa: an ‘Update on the Women’s Peace & Security Centre in Kinshasa, Congo (DRC).’ and ‘Rwanda: what is really happening?’.
Additionally our stalls sold books, new WILPF t-shirts, jam and bric-abrac. As well as items made by women trained at the Women Peace and Security Centre in Kinshasa, DRC. There was a raffle and our infamous delicious high tea.
Hove Garden Party: 20th August
Joyce Gould is once again hosted our summer party. A member, Anna Shepherd, talked about the ‘Mozambican Refugees in South Africa & Elections that Voted Mandela to Power!’, which was fascinating as she has many stories to tell. We had a raffle and a bookstall. Friends, relatives, all were welcome.
